If get a loan, but then need a larger amount, can you reapply with the same company and possibly combine them?

You need to ask your lender. Most of the time, you have to refinance. But it may be possible for them to increase the amount of the loan if it's really only for a "wee bit" more. Each lender has different policies; call them up and ask.
